![]() ![]() Either recruit them fully into the military and turn hunting off, or don't use them at all. There's a bug where they'll pick up bolts for hunting and fill their quiver, then "won't have room" for military bolts and refuse to shoot the ones they have for hunting. Side note, don't let your hunters be marksdwarfs unless you're assigning them to the military permanently. A squad assigned a uniform newer than they are will not pick up bolts, from what I've read. Any missed shots will fall down and be recoverable. The stockpile has about 100 bolts and takes more bolts from my main stockpiles bins when. If you want to conserve bolts from training, build the archery range up 1 z-lvl, and place a wall 1 tile behind the targets with an open space inbetween. I usually just make by bone bolt stockpiles (with plenty of bins) right near my archery targets. Bone bolts make smaller stacks, but the dwarves just put several stacks in their quivers, I've noticed. Additionally, if you accidentally delete the uniform, you need to disband the squad, recreate the uniform, then recreate the squad. Despite the archery terminology, in fortress mode you only have access to crossbow using marksdwarves. I use a ton of bone bolts in my fortress and have not noticed storage problems. When you make a meeting hall zone, you can assign a location to it - the icon is a plus on something. The point of modification was because having extra plates on lower body and toes are overkill and wasteful, especially when going for more realistic armor design. They'll perform for each other, socialise, drink a bunch. Ive never had an issues with ammo when setting 100 bolts per dwarf. So, create your uniform then create the squad. Yep, a dining hall is just a place to eat but your dwarves will do a lot more in a tavern. Create the uniform you want them to wear (I think Seekay was actually incorrect in saying that because you cannot assign an ammo type custom uniforms for marksdwarfs are impossible, I think it's more that you cannot assign a specific ammo type). From what I hear, this has to do with a bug where the uniform has to exist before the squad is created. Seems there is a bug involved with storing ammo in bins, If you have all the ammo in bins the dwarfs wont. It's annoying but if nothing else helps, try that.
